DRUNK BRIDE is the leader of The Sisterhood of Displaced Brides: An amorphous collective of bride characters that convenes at Motèl Mari performances. Still dressed in their nuptial whites, all of them have somehow missed the ceremony, through their own doing or as a result of other circumstances. Each has a story to tell if you ask her. They find solace and celebration in a spontaneous wedding party of their own devising; on the night, in the moment, fired up by music, by leftover wedding party favours and fevers...

This loose collective of (mostly) women performers  (as many as fifteen or as few as two) first began performing with Motèl Mari at their Eternal Peasant album launch in 2013. They appeared as go-go girls on roller skates with hula hoops and colourful wigs, and proceeded to charge the Kitcheners dancefloor with clownishsexy choreographies. Excited by the prospect of a theatrical element playing alongside the band, improvising with them, with each other and with the crowd, they eventually developed into outofcontext brides with tragicomic back stories.
